THE Buhay sa Gulay project of the Department of Agrarian Reform together with the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) of the Department of Agriculture of Central Luzon was successfully launched at the Government Center in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga on Friday, August 20, 2021.

The purpose of the said project is to use the disused lot to make it a vegetable garden. More importantly, it aims to educate 10 to 20 Urban dwellers, agrarian reform beneficiary organization (Arbo) members, and other farmer organizations regarding Urban Agriculture.

“The meaning of Life on Vegetables is to provide life or livelihood to the urban dwellers here especially now during the pandemic. It can also be a response to modern living or new normal,” said DAR-Central Luzon Focal Person Eloy Palomo.

“We have found the DAR Vegetable Life project to be valuable, especially in this time of pandemic where we need to make productive the vacant land that can be planted with vegetables so that we can produce our own food,” said Engineer AB P. David, regional HVCDP focal person.

The DA through HVCDP supported and funded this program with the help of private partners, Harbest and Known You, to help citizens who want to adopt the method of planting vegetables in more than 2,500 square meters size project, according to David.

DA Regional Field Office-Central Luzon and DAR-Central Luzon partnered with Harbest Agribusiness Corporation and Known-You Seed Company, where they provided a variety of crops and other farm supplies to assist in the implementation of the said project.

“We are ready to support this project from land preparation to the harvest festival that will be held at the end of this project,” said Regional Marketing Director of Harbest Agribusiness Corporation Queenaliza Velasco.

The said project is currently in Phase I or Pre-Implementation Phase.
