Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte’s public trust rating declines, based on a survey by the University of Mindanao.
The survey conducted by UM’s Institute of Public Opinion (IPO) from November 23 to December 5 showed a 41.4 percent net trust in Duterte, six months into his first term.
This is lower than the 59.6 percent net trust he had during the start of his administration in June.
“Duterte’s net trust remained positive at 41.4 percent. However this is 18.2 points lower (compared to the previous survey,” IPO-UM said.
Compared in June, those who have “much trust” in the mayor dropped to 53.6 percent from 67.9 percent while those who have “slight trust” increased to 34.2 percent from 23.8 percent.
Those who have “no trust” in Mayor Duterte rose to 12.2 percent from 8.3 percent.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Melchor Quitain Jr. also earned a slightly lower public trust rate.
From 44.1 percent net trust in June, it declined by 12.1 points to 32 percent net trust. Those who have “much trust” in the vice mayor declined to 38.8 percent from 48.2 percent.
Those who have “slight trust” and “no trust” rose to 54.4 percent and 6.8 percent, respectively, from 41.7 percent and 4.1 percent.
On the other hand, Davao City’s congress representatives earned a better trust rating.
District 1 representative Paolo Duterte’s net trust improved slightly to 43.6 percent from 43.3 percent while District 2 representative Vincent Garcia’s net trust rose to 34.1 percent from 25 percent.
Meanwhile, District 3 representative Isidro Ungab’s net trust declined to 33.3 percent from 45.4 percent.
IPO-UM’s survey targeted 1,200 participants from all three districts of Davao City. The respondents were random based on predefined criteria and were conducted online. Sampling was set at 95% confidence level and 2.5% margin of error. ICM
