Liloan, Cebu Mayor Christina Frasco, Duterte-Carpio’s spokesperson, said in a forwarded statement a fraudulent scheme is targeting DepEd’s contractors and suppliers.
“The incoming Secretary of Education [Duterte-Carpio] has not nor will never designate anyone to talk to or negotiate with contractors and suppliers to engage in corrupt activities — smearing her reputation and tarnishing the image of the entire DepEd and the thousands of people working hard under the organization,” Frasco said.
With this, contractors, suppliers, and the general public are urged to exercise prudence when dealing with individuals and/or groups claiming to represent the vice president-elect and incoming DepEd Secretary.
She said they can report these “suspicious activities” to authorities.
Duterte-Carpio, who was recently proclaimed the winner in the 2022 vice presidential race, has been named by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the incoming DepEd Secretary.
Frasco, on the other hand, will give up her position as elected mayor after accepting the post as Tourism secretary.
Meanwhile, the outgoing Davao mayor has already started communicating with the camp of outgoing Education Secretary Leonor Briones and outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo for the transition process of the two offices.
