Ben Tesiorna, information officer of the City Information Office (CIO) told SunStar Davao on Monday, April 25, that DORSHS will implement hybrid learning to conduct both limited F2F classes and online learning.
“Some days they go F2F, other days they go online. Since the number of students are limited under F2F, not every day ay papasok sa klase ang student (students will not attend F2F classes everyday),” Tesiorna said.
The limited F2F classes will cater at least 20 students per classroom while implementing social distancing of one to two meters apart. Aside from that, students will practice proper wearing of face masks and hand hygiene.
In addition, DORSHS conducted a simulation run of F2F classes on April 22 participated by 120 students from Grades 7 to 12. The simulation is a requirement for all schools before they officially conduct F2F classes.
“They were first inspected by our Mati City Incident Management Team and followed by the simulation exercise,” Tesiorna said but in total, around 390 DORSHS students from grades seven to 12 are expected to participate in the in-person learning.
“The importance of conducting a simulation exercise is to assess the capacity and readiness of the school to comply with the guidelines of DepEd and Department of Health with regards to the conduct of limited F2F classes,” Tesiorna said.
On April 1, 2022, Mati City was placed under the least restrictive Alert Level 1 system. According to Department of Education (DepEd)-Davao spokesperson Jenielito Atillo during a previous interview with SunStar Davao, F2F classes will be automatically suspended if an area is placed under Alert 3 or higher.
Thus, Tesiorna said DORSHS will conduct F2F classes as long as Mati City is under Alert level 1 or 2. “Once they start their F2F, for as long as the place is under Level 1 or 2, they can continue,” he said.
Aside from DORSHS, five schools in Mati City are already conducting limited F2F classes, namely, Culian Integrated School, Mati Central District School, Rabat Rocamora Mati Central SPED School, Asuncion Rondina Perez Memorial School, and Buso National High School.
