Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Department of Health said on Monday, that it has started the rollout of second booster shots vs COVID-19 for Filipinos with comorbidities.
DOH told reporters in a statement, “DOH Center for Health Development – Metro Manila shares that administration of the second booster will begin today April 25, 2022 for immunocompromised individuals in different vaccination sites of the NCR.”
The health department said it will also start expanding its vaccination sites for the 2nd dose of boosters as their operations go forward.
DOH noted that people who have comorbidities may already get their 2nd booster shots at least 3 months after their initial booster.
It added that aside from immunocompromised people, senior citizens and front line health workers are now also eligible to get their second booster doses.
Meanwhile, the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) said it eyes to shell out 690,000 shots of the new booster doses to targeted individuals with comorbidities.
The agency also stated that “Operations will initially aim to reach approximately 1-2% of this target, which corresponds to about 7k to 13k people. Local Government Units (LGU’s) will then gradually lead the expansion of the rollout.”
Based on the current data of DOH, there are 12.9 million Filipinos who have been given their first booster shots, while almost 70 million have already been given two doses of their non-booster vaccines against COVID-19. TNF
