FOLLOWING the continuous spike of Covid-19 cases in Davao City, the local government unit is allowing home isolation for some individuals who tested positive for the virus.

“Naka-activate na ang atong home isolation program (We have reactivated our home isolation),” said Davaco City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio during a radio interview on Monday, January 24, 2022.

“This is as of January 20, nag update sila na (they have updated us that) they already allowed home isolation but these are for properly-assessed, medically, and socially sa ilahang household as set by the criteria of the Department of Health (DOH) sa home isolation,” she added.

Duterte-Carpio said households that passed DOH’s criteria for home isolation will be listed as active cases under home isolation, otherwise they can be moved to Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facilities (TTMF) provided by the City Government.

Hospital admission, on the other hand, is recommended for those with severe or critical cases since they will be needing resources such as oxygen and intravenous medicines.

“In that case, kinahanglan ma-line up sila didto sa One Hospital Command para matudlo kung asa na hospital sila pwede ma-admit (they have to queue under the One Hospital Command so they can be properly referred to a hospital where they can be admitted),” said the mayor.

As per DOH, immediate isolation is required for individuals experiencing fever or at least two or more symptoms of Covid-19 such as cough, cold, and sore throat.

“Ang kanang mga naka home isolation, ginatagaan sila og instructions sa mga doctors dinha sa atong health group sa response cluster sa atong Covid-19 Task Force (For those who are under home isolation, they are given instructions on what to do by the doctors under the health group of the response cluster of our Covid-19 Task Force),” said Duterte-Carpio.

Meanwhile, the City Government also adopted new guidelines from DOH regarding isolation and quarantine.

As per Davao City Covid-19 Task Force spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser, first-generation contacts (F1) of confirmed positive individuals must undergo RT-PCR testing.

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated close contacts shall undergo a 14-day quarantine while 10 days for unvaccinated persons belonging to the A2 and A3 categories when they manifest mild symptoms. Fully vaccinated persons, on the other hand, are required only seven days of quarantine.

But Schlosser also said that severe and critical cases must undergo 21-day quarantine whether or not they are fully vaccinated.
