AROUND 1,000 members of the lesbian, gays bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, including one family member, are targeted to be vaccinated on Sunday, September 19, 2021.
Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) Commissioner and Work for Davao program manager Norman Baloro said in a radio interview on Thursday, September 16, that the vaccination rollout will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Baloro said the event is spearheaded by the LGBT Davao City Coalition which has 90 accredited LGBT organizations.
He said this is part of Davao City’s massive vaccination drive against Covid-19 to reach 1.2 million vaccinated Dabawenyos by November.
Baloro said the vaccination rollout is open to all LGBT members in the city regardless if they are members of any coalition or not, but he said they need to register for the vaccination.
“They still have to undergo registration, they have to coordinate with the leaders kasi per organization tayo, and kung wala silay organization, or kung wala silay membership sa Davao City LGBT Coalition they can contact the Davao City LGBT lead convenor,” Baloro said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.

The vaccination drive for the LGBT community is among the sectoral vaccination drives of the City Government.
The City Government recently launched its sectoral vaccination at People’s Park along Palma Gil.
Davao City Covid-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said that the walk-in vaccination is open for sidewalk, market, food, flower and ambulant vendors, tricycle and habal-habal drivers.
The walk-in vaccination is also open for laborers, construction workers, sales ladies, vendors, public utility jeepney drivers, taxi drivers and service delivery drivers.
“Kadtong una, wala man ‘ta naga-allow og walk-in [vaccinees]. Karon ang announcement nako is naa ‘tay walk-in sa People’s Park pero Previously, we did not allow walk-ins. But now I am announcing that we will allow walk-ins at People’s Park but) for several sectors or several individuals lang (only),” Schlosser said.
The vaccination site is open from Mondays to Fridays. For first dose, the site will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., while the second dose will be from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
