THE Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) is now preparing to deploy police personnel in public schools during the opening of full face-to-face classes (F2F) on November 2.
PRO 7 Director Brigadier General Roderick Augustus Alba said during an Online News Forum Tuesday, October 25, 2022, that he already ordered all police station chiefs in the region to coordinate with the school officials in their respective jurisdiction regarding the deployment of cops to provide security and order especially that the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) is not completely gone.
Alba said they are still waiting for the guidelines from the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame in Quezon City, Metro Manila regarding the implementation of security in schools.
“We have to align sa mga guidelines na nandyan sa amin ngayon at kung ano mang guidelines yan ang susundin natin,” Alba said.
(We have to align the guidelines with our own and follow whatever will come out.)
Amaryllis Villarmia, public information officer of DepEd 7, said the teachers are now ready for the opening of F2F classes.
She said 95 percent of classrooms that have either been damaged or destroyed by Typhoon Odette in December 2021 can already be used for the resumption of F2F classes.
She, however, said that the agency has not yet recorded any Covid-19 case since the partial F2F classes started last August.
Villarmia suggested that those schools without blue guards can ask the barangay to provide one for security purposes.
“In fact sa other schools, we are partnering sa atong mga barangay units kay if wala gyud tag kwarta isweldo og guard, pwede ra gyud ta kaayo mangayog assistance sa atong barangay,” she said.
The Department of Education Talisay Schools Division also mentioned during the meeting that the government agency wants to prevent the entry of gangs in schools and to avoid a repeat of an incident where a student of Mabolo National High School in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City was stabbed by one of the members of his rival gang.
