Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) Director Brigadier General Roderick Augustus Alba said they will deploy 3,000 police officers to secure 441 cemeteries in the region.
Alba reminded members of the public that drinking alcoholic beverages inside cemeteries is strictly forbidden.
He said they will not allow people under the influence of liquor to enter.
“In fact, ihatid namin sa bahay nila para maka pag pahinga sila. Alam naman natin kung lasing di na co-control ay baka po mag gulo pa sa loob ng cemetery. So that’s what we want to avoid,” he said. (In fact, we’ll take them home so they can rest. We all know that drunk people cannot be controlled and they might cause trouble inside the cemetery.)
Weapons and hazardous items are also banned.
Alba said they will do their best to achieve zero crime in those two days.
Meanwhile, the PRO 7 director said they will implement the guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases as the Covid-19 pandemic has not ended. However, he said they will follow the rules of local government units, such as the city and province of Cebu, where the wearing of face masks is optional.
Alba also urged people not to post on social media that they will be going out of town for the long weekend to prevent them from being targeted by criminals. (AYB)
