In two separate interviews during his visit in Cebu on Friday, April 8, 2022, Domagoso said he has not yet received any confirmation from the party led by reelectionist Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia that they will endorse him in his bid for presidency.
“Wala pa, ayoko silang pangunahan basta masaya na ako na tinatanggap nila tayo rito, tinutulungan nila tayo rito. Pati local government, pati yung mga barangay officials and mga volunteers,” said Domagoso in an interview during one of his concert rallies at the premises of Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City on Friday, April 8.
Domagoso visited and courted Cebu several times already, and he was accompanied by Deputy Speaker and reelectionist congressman Pablo John “PJ” Garcia (Cebu, 3rd), who serves as One Cebu’s secretary general.
Domagoso, however, confirmed that he was in talks with the governor through her brother, PJ, who joined him in his two-day campaign sortie in Cebu, including in Toledo City.
Domagoso further reiterated this in a separate interview on Saturday morning, April 9.
But he stressed that his lineup, including his running mate Dr. Willie Ong, and senatorial aspirants Carl Balita, Jopet Sison, John Castriciones, and Samira Gutoc, are hoping to get endorsement from the party.
“Any help will do. For the meantime, sabi nga, yung mangga mas masarap siyang pinipitas kaysa lumalagpak nalang sa lupa,” Domagoso added.
If endorsed by One Cebu, Domagoso said it will be an additional help in his campaign.
SunStar Cebu tried to get a statement from PJ but he has yet to respond on the matter as of this writing.
But in earlier reports, PJ announced he will be supporting Domagoso’s candidacy.
However, he is leaving it to his sister to decide on who will they support for president.
