Police officials of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said most of the bar brawls they responded to had involved drunk teenagers who would often cause trouble at around dawn.
Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, CCPO’s deputy director for operations, said they have already responded to bar brawls at restobars on Gen. Maxilom Ave., along Salinas Drive in Barangay Lahug, in Sitio Panagdait in Barangay Kasambagan and two other incidents in areas he didn’t disclosed.
Parilla said they have raised this matter to the officials of the Cebu City Emergency Operations Center during their weekly meetings with them.
Parilla said it will be up to the Cebu City Government on how it will sanction restobars where bar brawls often occurred.
“It’s up to them on what regulations they plan to implement to control violence within restobars. For us, we will only give suggestions on what they can do but at the end of the day, its the City that will make those regulations,” Parilla said in Cebuano.
The police official also urged restobar owners to police themselves by preventing violence in their establishments if they want to keep operating.
For now, local police and barangay personnel will continue conducting roving patrols near restobars as a deterrent against bar brawls.
