ONLY one aspirant for the May 2022 local and national elections has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) as of 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 1, the first day of the filing of the COC.
A former seafarer and teacher, Gian Murillo Aznar, 31, is the first aspirant to file his COC on Friday.
Aznar is running independently for a seat in the Cebu City-North District Council. This will be his first time to run for an elective position.
He said growing up in a family of educators and politicians, in both side, influenced him to also enter politics.
“It came natural to me and I know that grabe tag kaagian karon during the pandemic, so I need to do my part to step up sad for the next generation of politicians para sa Cebu City,” he said.
He said since he is inclined to the education sector, he would want to focus on education to employment initiatives should he win as Cebu City councilor for north district.
“(This is) to ensure that the future generations sa atong mga katawhan diri sa Cebu City, magaan og tarong nga quality eduction at the same time, naa juy employment nga padulngan,” he added.
He also said that he is an advocate for youth development and overseas Filipino workers’ welfare. (WBS)
