THE number of individuals who got their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine is expected to reach one million in two to three days, said Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, Visayas Covid-19 Vaccination Operations Center spokesperson.
Loreche said Wednesday, September 8, that the combined vaccination efforts of the public and private sectors in Cebu resulted in the administration of 956,369 doses as first dose and 635,442 doses for second dose.
“You can just imagine the lucky and the most fortunate person to be given the one millionth dose in the coming two or three days. I’m counting days parang kung tuloy-tuloy yung 19,000 doses per day, makikita natin, dalawa, tatlo sigurong araw, pinakamatagal na ang apat na araw, we would reach our one millionth first dose,” Loreche said.
Loreche also said that of the 1,774,081 eligible vaccinees for the seven local government units in Metro Cebu, 29.96 percent are fully vaccinated and 47.11 percent have already received the first of the two-dose series of vaccines.
She reiterated the importance of vaccination, citing that of the 51 recorded Covid-19 deaths in private hospitals in Cebu, 72 percent of these involved unvaccinated individuals. (WBS)
