CAGAYAN de Oro City Health Office has reported on Saturday, August 7, the detection of another eight new Delta variant cases in the city.
With the eight additional cases, the cumulative number of Delta variant cases in the city is now at 21.
According to City Health Office medical officer Dr. Ted Yu, two of the new Delta cases were males and the other six cases were females.
The youngest is six years old while the oldest is 55 years old.
Of the eight new Delta variant cases, four have already been discharged, two are still at the city’s Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility, one admitted, and one mortality.
“Of the four who have been discharged, we extracted them already last night. They’re already in our isolation facilities,” Yu said.
The one mortality was a resident of Barangay Kauswagan, Yu said. One of the cases lives in Barangay Bulua, another in Barangay Canitoan, two in Balulang (aunt and niece), and two in Barangay Carmen (a 21 -year-old male and a 19-year-old female, both related).
“Ang challenge niini kay they are in different barangays. Pero this is better than yung una. Dahil yung una, kumpol-kumpol ang pinadala sa genome laboratory,” Moreno said.
Yu said they have already started their extensive contact tracing and activated the ARIs and influenza-like surveillance in the barangays the eight Delta cases were residing.
