A hall-of-famer, Barangay Granada also bagged the awards for Most disciplined and Best in Music. The dancers of Barangay Granada choreographed by Joedem Casabuena, Mark Philip Lamirez and Romnick Rafael bested the performers from 16 other barangays.
They took home the most expensive cash prize ever for the MassKara Festival which is P1 million while they also receive P25,000 for each special award that they got.
On top of that, they also received P20,000 worth of free food delivery vouchers as Pau-Pau Choice Award given by Foodpanda.
Barangay Granada also won in 2014, 2015, and 2016 MassKara street and arena dance competition.
Bagging the first runner up is Barangay Sum-ag dancers, who received P500,000 in cash and a trophy. Sum-ag was also chosen as Best in Costume and Best in Mask, with P25,000 cash and a certificate.
Barangay Estefania was awarded second runner-up and received P300,000 in cash and a trophy. Estefania was also chosen as Best in Theme and Concept, with P25,000 and a certificate.
Barangay 35 was third runner-up, receiving P250,000 in cash and a trophy, Barangay Singcang-Airport was fourth runner-up, receiving P150,000 in cash and a trophy while Barangay Tangub settled in the fifth rplace and took home P50,000 in cash and a trophy.
Completing the winners were Barangays 31 and Alangilan as sixth and seventh runners up winning P30,000 and P20,000 in cash, respectively.
Meanwhile, Barangay Alijis won Best in Introduction and brought home P25, 000 in cash.
The judges of the 43rd MassKara Street and Arena Dance Competition include Derek Ramsay, Pops Fernandez, Korina Sanchez-Roxas, Ricky Isla, and Puey Quinones.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez also expressed his gratitude to all the barangay participants as well as the members of the City Council, Congressman Greg Gasataya, the Bacolod City Police Office, and the city employees.
Benitez said the festival was generally peaceful with no major untoward incidents related to the celebration of the MassKara.
