Puentevella, chairperson of the City Council committee on health, said this is to identify indigent residents as mandated under Republic Act 11223 or the Universal Health Care Act.
He said the Universal Health Program gives citizens access to the full continuum of health services they need, while protecting them from enduring financial hardship as a result.
Puentevella also said that the DSSD should spearhead the information dissemination to see to it that the less privileged constituents living in the far flung areas in Bacolod will have easy access to the benefits that are afforded to them.
Under the law, the local government units (LGU) shall endeavor to provide a health care delivery system that will afford every Filipino a primary care provider.
The law added that the LGU should act as navigator, coordinator and initial and continuing point of contract in the health delivery system,l.
Puentevella stressed that all barangay officials should also provide a proper recording and listing of all qualified indigent individuals to the City Health Office and DSSD.
