Police Colonel Noel Aliño has only been serving as police provincial director in an acting capacity since October 2022, Defensor clarified.
The governor also said he will be talking to PRO-6 regional director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, and municipal mayors to get their sentiments on their preferred provincial director.
Defensor explained that every time the PRO-6 submits a list of candidates for IPPO director, it is accompanied with the nominees’ resumés, credentials and accomplishments.
He also sees no problem if the next IPPO director is not an Ilonggo, saying he can maintain a good working relationship with anyone.
Defensor is unsure if Aliño’ will be included in the list that the PRO-6 would be submitting to him.
“Waay sang official complaint nga nakaabot sa akon, pero nakabati ako may mga issues. I also want to ask the Philippine National Police about their own assessment, kay they have their own basis. Bisan indi gani ako mangayo nga islan, kis-a nagasiling sila nga islan... The last time I think may isa kita diri ka provincial director nga gin-islan because they thought he was to be changed na. Amo na akon ginahulat nga may proseso kag mamangkot kita kon san-o ina,” said Defensor.
The governor also did not leave a comment when asked about his assessment of Aliño’s performance.
He said he needed to see the IPPO’s accomplishment report first, not just to assess Aliño but also to gauge the peace and order situation in the province./PN
