BUENAVISTA, Guimaras – Around 6,000 children between five to 11 years old are target to vaccinate against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Buenavista, Guimaras.
According to Mayor Eugenio Reyes, the vaccination for five to 11 years old children is to give them protection against COVID-19, more on Omicron variant, as well as to give them more protection for the upcoming face-to-face classes.
The vaccination was started on February 15, and more than 50 kids received the vaccine in the launching ceremony.
The launching activity vaccination turnout is low that’s why the Department of Education (DepEd) and other barangay officials help to explain to the parents and guardians how safe the vaccine is
Based on the monitoring of LGU and Rural Health Unit (RHU) out of 50 kids who got vax, no one has experienced an adverse effect of the vaccine.
Reyes believed and explained to parents and guardians that the vaccine has a good effect and never doubts the effectiveness of the vaccine.
If Parents and guardians that wanted their children vaccinated, must go to their respective barangay officials and health workers to get listed. Just bring the necessary documents such as an original copy of a birth certificate, secondary identification card like an authenticated medical certificate of the childbearing name of the parent, issued by the hospital, baptismal certificate of the child with the name of the parent/s, school ID or records of the child, among others.
The vaccine used for five to 11 years old children are the reformulated Pfizer vaccine allotted by the Department of Health.
Last weekend, Guimaras received 2,000 doses of reformulated Pfizer vaccine which was distributed to the town of Jordan, Sibunag, San Lorenzo, Nueva Valencia, and Buenavista./PN
