ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. backs a resolution of the Inter-Agency for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) requiring employees in both the public and private sectors to get vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The mandatory vaccination would benefit workers, especially those dealing with clients every day, according to Defensor.
IATF-MEID’s Resolution 148-B also provides eligible employees who remain to be unvaccinated may not be terminated solely by reason thereof. However, they shall be required to undergo reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests “regularly at their own expense.”
While majority of provincial government employees were vaccinated against COVID-19, Defensor said, “Asta sa masarangan naton ang pagpangbakuna, sigehon naton.”/PN
