ILOILO City – The University of the Philippines (UP) Law Alumni Association-Negros Occidental Chapter is partnering with Panay News for the May 2022 election debates in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
The association thanked Atty. Abdiel Dan Elijah “Ade” Fajardo, Panay News Chairman of the Board and former president of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), for honoring the invitation of being a partner for Bacolod’s mayoral and Negros Occidental’s gubernatorial debates.
Also in partnership with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, this would be a first ever virtual mayoral and gubernatorial debate on Jan. 15, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon via Zoom.
“We welcome Panay News as our media partner,” the association wrote Fajardo.
The election debates aim to heighten public discourse around the May 2022 elections focusing on key issues that resonate with local voters.
“(W)e envisage to contribute to setting and influencing the agenda for the governance of the city and the province. It will also be an effective way to engage voters and constituents to heighten their awareness and understanding on key matters involving the city and province’s welfare,” the association said.
“Likewise, it will be an opportunity to make known the candidates’ positions on specific issues,” it added.
