ILOILO – The provincial government received an additional 12,700 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Atty. Suzette Mamon, acting provincial administrator, confirmed that on Sept. 24, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) got 1,270 vials of AstraZeneca (10 doses per vial).
“Part ini sang installment delivery as per multi-lateral agreement naton with AstraZeneca,” Mamon said.
The province has so far received 31,600 doses or some 11.7 percent of the 270,000 doses the capitol ordered.
The jabs will be distributed to 43 local government units (LGUs) and others will be used in the ongoing barangay-based vaccination.
As of Sept. 26, a total of 267,946 or 18 percent of Iloilo’s target population have been completely vaccinated.
These included health workers (42,280), senior citizens (50,374), persons with comorbidities (58,072), uniformed personnel (26,344), and indigents (1,034).
The province has to vaccinate 1,448,757 to achieve “herd immunity.”
The brands of vaccines administered were the following: AstraZeneca (33,930 doses), Sinovac (112,920), Pfizer (3,188), Moderna (28,066), and Janssen (89,842).
Ten LGUs had the highest vaccination accomplishment: Pototan – 12,332; Passi City – 11,823; Miag-ao –9,762; Lambunao – 9,572; Cabatuan – 8,608; Oton – 8,608; Tigbauan – 8,116; Dumangas – 8,111; Ajuy –7,797; and Calinog – 7,450.
The province also recently received 11,700 doses of Pfizer vaccines; Sinovac – 30,000; and Moderna-15,800 from the national government.
“Kinahanglan ang taga-LGU may daily vaccination sila so that come Nov. 28 we can achieve our target (herd immunity),” said Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon, PHO head.
As of Sept. 29, Iloilo had 32,071 total coronavirus cases, of which 5,132 were active, 26,153 recovered and 779 died./PN
