Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez yesterday said they will be reviewing the assignments of job order casuals in Bacolod City to make sure that they are actually rendering work.
Benitez said they have currently set the number of job order casuals at 2,700. However, last year they could not identify where 894 were assigned, which is why they would like to review the assignments.
“Our solution to the problems of their salary last year is to enroll them all with an ATM payment system. So all job order casuals will be paid through the bank after being registered,” he said.
They have been given ID’s with QR Codes that will be their “time-in, time-out” system. But eventually, they will have an automated daily time record (DTR) so they will know exactly if these job order casuals are working in their respective posts or not, Benitez said.
He cited for example that this will also help them determine where the street cleaners under the Department of Public Services are working.
Benitez said there were 894 job order casuals last year whose assignments cannot be identified. Perhaps there are programs that have already been finished or completed but they are still there.
He believes that the 2,700 job order casuals can help run the city smoothly because they have been given specific assignments. Their contract will be renewed every three months according to need of the city.*
