The dedication and courage of medical technical technologists as front liners in the fight against COVID-19, has the admiration of Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson.
Lacson, who spoke at the 11th PAMET Conference on July 15, hosted by the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. – Negros Occidental Chapter at the SMX Convention in Bacolod City, said that medical technologists courageously exposed themselves to patients by being swabbers and by performing the actual testing at the molecular laboratory, on top of enduring the heat of the PPEs they need to wear for long hours.
“Humanity has been aware of the importance of medical technology in the health sector, but the recent health crisis, more than ever, highlighted the significance of medical technologists,” Lacson said.
He also acknowledged the six pioneer medical technologists who bravely volunteered to be trained in Iloilo to do the tests for Negros Occidental’s first provincial molecular laboratory at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, at the height of pandemic.*
