Provincial Inter Agency Task Force action officer Rayfrando Diaz yesterday said that he wants to start the distribution of cash incentives to Barangay Health Workers, based on their performance during the two-day province-wide initiated vaccination drive on June 2 and 3.
When others BHWs notice that cash incentives are already distributed, Diaz said that will serve as an added motivation for them to campaign more for the vaccination drive.
The provincial government of Negros Occidental is also giving five kilos of rice to those who are fully vaccinated.
Diaz said the cooperation of City and Municipal Health Officers and BHWs is very vital.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier described the results of the first two days of the simultaneous province-wide inoculation on June 2 and 3 as “very poor”, which resulted in the vaccination of 7,318 persons.
Diaz said that all interested to be vaccinated have already been reached. But those being targeted for vaccination are still being educated and convinced to do so, he added.
Still, Diaz remains optimistic that the targeted general population of 150,000 to be vaccinated, may be achieved as they have still three weeks to do so.
As of June 6, the Provincial Incident Management Team reported three new COVID–19 cases, bringing to 18 the number of active cases in Negros Occidental. At the same time, PIMT also reported 11 recoveries.*
