Supporters of presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Negros Occidental have issued an appeal to supporters of other presidential candidates to “respect the results” of the coming May 9 elections.
Esteban “Sonny” Coscolluela, spokesman of the Marcos campaign in the province, said that “while the elections are very heated, we should hate this ‘hate politics’ after May 9.”
“Everyone of us should respect, support and be united with the eventual winner,” Coscolluela pointed out.
Coscolluela said he is confident that Marcos will win in Negros Occidental.
Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, 28 of the 32 Negros Occidental mayors, as well as majority of the solons in the province, have earlier expressed their support to the Marcos-Duterte tandem.
“The only way for this country to move forward is to be united.” “Our disunity now is understandable now because we have different candidates. But at the end of the day after May 9 there will only be one winner,” Coscolluela, former mayor of Murcia, stressed
His cousin, former Negros Occidental Gov. Rafael Coscolluela, is the chairperson of the Robredo People’s Council in Negros Occidental.
Coscolluela said that the election is like not an Olympics where the 2nd and 3rd runners up also get medals.
We should mature enough to accept who is going to win,” he added, stressing also that he cannot see how the survey advantage of Marcos “would be overturned with 27 days left in the campaign.”
Coscolluela cited an unnamed anthropologist who said that the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo needs to convert one million voters to change from Marcos to Robredo.
As to the shift to house-to-house campaign by celebrities supporting Robredo, he, however, said “it is too late, further stressing that people have made up their minds by this time.”
According to the survey of Laylo, 85 percent of Marcos voters are hard voters.
They will no longer change their mind,” he stressed.
“They are just wasting their time,” Coscolluela added.
Negros Occidental has 1.9 million voters.
The One Cebu party led by Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia earlier announced their support to the Marcos Duterte tandem. Cebu ranked number one with having the greatest number of registered voters all over the country. It has more than 3.3 million voters.*
