Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Provincial Health Offices of neighbor provinces Isabela and Cagayan have logged slight increases in their COVID-19 active cases, citing a slow, yet steady uptick in infections.
The PHO of Isabela has logged a slight increase in COVID-19 active infections anew with 22 on Monday morning, July 4 after recording 1 new positive case in Santiago City.
Areas with active patients are Roxas with 9; Ilagan City and Delfin Albano each with 3 cases; Quezon with 2; while Cauayan City, Cordon, Quirino, San Mariano and Santiago City each have 1.
Isabela has previously recorded 30 active cases last week and has decreased to only 17 on July 1, until its PHO has logged another increase over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Cagayan province has logged 44 active infections late on Sunday, July 3, with 2 new positive cases in Solana town and 3 recoveries from the towns of Lasam, Gonzaga and Enrile.
Areas in Cagayan with active cases are Tuguegarao City with 26; Solana and Abulug each with 3; 2 each in the towns of Baggao, Gattaran, and Gonzaga; and 1 case each in the towns of Alcala, Ballesteros, Buguey, Peñablanca, Rizal and Tuao.
Both provinces are currently under Alert Level 1 until July 15 as hoisted by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
Although the infections seem to be rising, the Department of Health Region 2 and the Philippine Genome Center have not yet traced any of the new Omicron subvariants in both provinces.
While both provinces remain under the lowest alert level, both provincial governments have made announcements for their residents to follow health protocols to avoid infection and future surges. TNF
