Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Commission on Elections on Tuesday, May 10, has denied that the elections was ‘rigged’ as netizens have claimed that there are anomalies and irregularities in the votes of presidential bets Bongbong Marcos & Leni Robredo.
Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo said in a statement, “It’s hard to prove that there was cheating with regard to that percentage. First of all, the system went through a certification. So there was a local source code review. How can you insert such percentage to make your candidate win or lose?”
The commissioner’s statement follows viral claims of Robredo supporters’ observations that her votes had accounted for 47% of Bongbong Marcos, who is presently leading the polls significantly.
Other netizens have also posted continuously about an alleged 68:32 ratio transmission of results to the favor of Marcos.
As the controversy mounts on social media, the Comelec said in a media briefing that results have been forwarded to its servers from various clustered poll precincts.
Casquejo added, “If you receive the results, and there will be a percentage lead. If they really insist, we can check the election returns in each province. First of all, the National Board of Canvassers transmits to Congress. We will see how much the percentage is per province.”
Meanwhile, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) told the press that poll experts from University of Santo Tomas and Ateneo De Manila University have found ‘no anomalies’ in the results of the elections.
In an official statement, the PPCRV said “We asked experts from the math department of Ateneo and UST, they were here today. As of the last few cycle around 6:30pm they have not found any irregularity in the transmission patterns that people have seemed to talk about in social media.
However, the council bared that it is yet to probe the allegedly questionable pattern of votes in the unofficial figures of the polls.
It added that its tech team is already working with the poll body for the investigation, citing that it has sent a request to Comelec for a system log server which is able to identify irregularities. TNF
