Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – After much speculation on Sara Duterte-Carpio’s plans for 2022, the Davao City Mayor has formalized her bid for a national post on Saturday morning, Nov 13, as she filed for substitution to run for Vice President under the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party.
The filing of the Presidential daughter’s candidacy as substitute for VP bet Lyle Uy was through a proxy on Saturday, resulting to a Lakas-CMD tandem of Anna Velasco to run for President and Duterte for Vice President.
Earlier this week, the Davao City Mayor withdrew from the Mayoral race and was replaced by her brother Sebastian Duterte. Just days later, Sara Duterte-Carpio also resigned from her regional party – Hugpong ng Pagbabago and took her oath to join the national Lakas-CMD party.
The deadline for substitution of candidates under the same party is allowed by the Commission on Elections until November 15.
So far, the Presidential daughter will be going against her father’s good friend Senator Bong Go, Senator Kiko Pangilinan, Dr. Willie Ong, Senate Pres. Tito Sotto and Walden Bello for the VP race in 2022. TNF
