TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – 25 former rebels from San Mariano, Isabela together with their wives are recipients of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority’s (TESDA) skills training program in Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, and Cookery NC II.
The said training programs which are under the agency’s Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) and Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) commenced last September 4, 2021 at Barangay Disulap in San Mariano.
Regional Director Archie A. Grande said that the training is part of the agency’s commitment as Chair of the Poverty Reduction Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC), in support to the government’s efforts in addressing insurgency problems in the country through the provision of development interventions in areas under the influence of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) particularly to former rebels (FRs) who are returning to the folds of the law.
The PRLEC is one of the 12 clusters under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) that aims to develop self-reliant, productive, resilient and sustainable communities through harmonized and culturally responsive development programs.
