Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Cagayan Valley’s first known COVID-19 Delta variant case has been confirmed by the Department of Health Region 2 on Thursday, August 5.
DOH Regional Director Dr. Rio Lat Magpantay told the Northern Forum on Thursday that they are currently investigating the first known case from the new COVID-19 strain for further details and contact tracing.
In a report from PIA Region 2 and the Provincial Health Office of Nueva Vizcaya, the first case disclosed from the deadlier dominant variant is a male resident of Solano town, and has been declared ‘clinically recovered’ as of July 20, 2021.
The health department is currently looking into contact tracing as well as into new possible cases of the Delta variant in all five provinces of the region.
DOH also added that local and community transmission are now “possible” and advises the residents of the region to follow strict health protocols. TNF
