TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO), Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) and the Department of Health (DoH) have inspected the Cagayan Valley Medical Center yesterday, April 23, 2020 for the application as the first Corona Virus Disease 2019 (CoVid-19) testing center in region 2.
CVMC Medical Chief Dr. Glenn Mathew Baggao told the Northern Forum in an interview that based on the assessment process of the WHO on CVMC, he is optimistic that CVMC may be granted as a testing center.
“Sa tingin ko po, ayon sa assessment na ginawa nila kahapon, masasabi natin mabibigyan tayo ng accreditation bilang testing center dito sa Tuguegarao”, he said.
Baggao also said that the capacity of CVMC is enough to be a CoVid-19 testing center. “Nakita naman po ang kakayahan ng ating laboratory pagdating sa testing ng CoVid-19”, he added. Meanwhile, for the testing category, Baggao said that they will prioritize high risk individuals like senior citizens, pregnant women and other high risk individuals.
Subsequently, he asked the public to be vigilant and still practice social distancing. Furthermore, “Wag muna tayo maging kampante dahil may mga asymthomatic tayong mga tao na maaring carrier ng virus. Sumunod po tayo sa mga utos dahil ito ay para sa proteksyon ng ating mga kababayan,” said Baggao.
