CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City is left with 95 active cases of COVID-19, the lowest number since late December 2020.
There are only five fresh cases and 19 recoveries on November 19 leading to the lowering of cases further in the city.
Moreover, the positivity rate remains low at only .72 percent with only five of the 690 tested turned out positive.
This is the first time in 2021 that Cebu City has experienced a two-digit total active case.
The remaining active cases are spread to 30 barangays.
Adding a sigh of relief to the men and women of the Emergency Operations Center is the zero transmission of 50 barangays here.
Critical care utilization rate also remains low at 26.52 percent only.
EOC’s deputy chief implementer and City Councilor Joel Garganera also said that the reported 12 additional deaths in Cebu City by the Department of Health-VII is not “new” but was only validated now.
Currently, Cebu City has eight deaths for November.
The EOC is taking this time to help out the city’s vaccination program to the barangays.
The EOC has emphasized that vaccines work regardless of brand. It prevents the severity of the disease, and if not, death.
Mayor Michael Rama has also told the unvaccinated now as the city’s vaccination coverage will also be the basis for the city’s decision to re-opening more activities.
“Tanan ablihan, pero tanan, bakunahan (at least for all the eligible population),” said Rama. — GMR (FREEMAN)
