The facility was officially inaugurated on Thursday afternoon.
Mayor Vilma Caluag and Luzon Medical System Director Norita Ang led the opening of the hemodialysis center.
The center has 25 dialysis machines which can accommodate up to 50 patients daily.
The facility has its own water treatment and reprocessing room which are necessary for the operation of a dialysis center.
Caluag said the center was established through a private-public partnership program with the Luzon Medical System.
The private partners built the structure and supplied dialysis machines and other equipment.
“Wala pong ginastos ang siyudad para sa pagpapatayo nito dahil nakipagpartner tayo sa Luzon Medical System. Libre ang pagpapatayo at libre din matatanggap ng Fernandino ang serbisyo ng dialysis,” she said.
She added that PrimeWater also committed to providing free water supply to the center.
Caluag said in the past years, the city government spent some P8.9-million for the financial assistance of Fernandino dialysis patients.
“Dito sa center, libreng makukuha ang treatment sa tulong ng PhilHealth tapos ‘yung gamot na kakailanganin ng patients, gagastos lang tayo ng roughly P3.8-million per year so malaking savings na ‘yon sa city,” she said.
Caluag said the local government has already screened 219 dialysis patients from the city who are qualified to avail of the program.
The screening is still ongoing with five barangays yet to be visited.
“Medyo marami than expected ‘yung gustong mag-avail kaya ginagawan namin ng paraan for expansion para mas maraming ma-serve ang ating patients,” Caluag said.
