Wong said she will bring back the social programs, such as creation of diabetic and hypertensive clubs, HIV awareness activities, free pap smear for women, and circumcision for boys, which were held annually, until she stepped down as local chief executive in 2019.
Wong also vowed the establishment of a state university in town that will provide quality and accessible tertiary level education to Simonian youth.
The vice mayor also assured that her administration will work to gain back the trust of investors who are bringing in income and livelihood to Simonians.
As the only woman candidate in the five-cornered mayoralty race, Wong said she sees it as an edge, as a woman can provide a governance that is anchored in toughness and motherly care and instinct.
Wong’s runningmate, Rommel Bondoc, for his part, assured that he will provide check and balance, and restore the integrity of the Municipal Council if elected as vice mayor.
“Ipapatupad natin ang rule of law sa legislation kasi ang gusto natin, lahat ng ordinansa at resolusyon na lalabas sa Sangguniang Bayan ay dadaan sa tamang proseso at pakikinabangan ng mga Simonians,” he said.
The Team Wong-Bondoc launched their campaign over the weekend with a motorcade around the 14 barangays in town.
