Local police in Mexico, Pampanga bared on Tuesday, March 15, the places that are banned for posting of election materials. These include: trees, light posts, electricity wires, schools, traffic signs, and ports and terminals.
The law also prohibits election materials from being posted in barangay halls, health centers, bridges, waiting sheds, sidewalks, government-owned vehicles and publicly-owned announcement boards.
The public is urged to immediately report to the local police station any sightings of campaign materials in the said prohibited areas.
Should the prohibition be violated, the candidate will be tried for an election offense as prescribed in the Fair Elections Act of 2001.
If a candidate is found guilty, he or she may be sentenced to one to six years of jail time without prohibition, disqualification from holding public office, and deprivation of the right to vote.
