The decision was announced by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Diseases on Sunday night, February 27, and will be effective until March 15.
Aside from Pampanga, the provinces of Tarlac, Bulacan, Aurora and Bataan will likewise be placed under Alert Level 1 during the same period.
Under Alert Level 1, all restrictions, including venue or transportation capacity and travel, will be removed and all businesses will be allowed to operate.
There will also no longer be restrictions for the vulnerable population such as children, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.
The public, however, is advised to continue to adhere to minimum public health protocols, particularly the wearing of face masks and maintenance of physical distancing to prevent a resurgence of Covid-19 cases in the country.
The provinces of Nueva Ecija and Zambales, meanwhile, will remain under Alert Level 2 from March 1 to 15.
Based on the latest bulletin of Department of Health-Central Luzon, Bulacan remains to have the highest number of active Covid-19 cases 2,192, followed by Pampanga with 978, Bataan with 630 and Nueva Ecija with 594.
Tarlac province also logged 469 active cases, while Zambales had 189 and Aurora had 35.
