ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. reiterated his appeal to non government organizations (NGOs) and the private sector to adopt areas within the city’s watershed in Barangay Sapangbato for reforestation.

The mayor renewed his call after the city government, through the employees of Information Communication and Technology Division, Command Center and Tourism Auxiliary, on November 12, 2021, conducted a tree planting activity at the said village.

Lazatin said this is part of the local government’s efforts to reforest the 560-hectare watershed.

The City Government started its massive reforestation efforts last year to increase water reserves which will benefit the city and the Metro Clark area.

“Having water is a must. These efforts being done at the present time will help conserve water for the use of future generations,” Lazatin said.

“Isa lang naman po ang goal natin, ang maseguro ang kapakanan ng ating mga kababayan, habang pinangangalagaan ang kalikasan,” the mayor added.

Irish Calaguas, Lazatin’s chief tactician, lauded the efforts of the Abacan River and Angeles Watershed Advocacy Council Inc. (Araw-ACI) which consist of environmentalists including Abing Tayag, for their efforts to assist the city government in the reforestation.

She also thanked the private sector and NGOs who committed and participated in the campaign to preserve the city’s watershed area.
