THE local government of Masantol received on Thursday, November 11, a brand new dump truck from the Metro Clark Waste Management Corporation (MCWMC).
MCWMC, which operates the first and most advanced engineered sanitary landfill in the Philippines, has long been a partner of the local government in disposing waste from the municipality.
Mayor Danilo Guintu, who personally received the donation, said the vehicle will boost the town’s waste management program that has been on his top agenda.
“It will be an addition to our existing garbage trucks which go around the municipality regularly to collect the waste from households. This only means that our garbage collection schedule per barangay will improve in the coming days,” he said.
Before MCWMC’s donation, the local government has also procured a garbage truck back in 2019 with the same goal of improving waste management.
“We see the importance the importance of proper waste management as it creates a ripple effect on the health of Masantoleños, our environment and even on our tourism,” he said.
The mayor also urged Masantoleños to practice proper waste segregation before their scheduled collection day to avoid any hassle and also ensure the cleanliness of their surroundings.
“In this time of pandemic when health is our greatest wealth, let us all take precaution by keeping ourselves and our surroundings clean at all times,” he said.
