DAVAO Region continues to log a low coverage of individuals receiving their Covid-19 booster shots.
According to the Vaccine Statistics published by the Department of Health-Davao Region (DOH-Davao) as of 8 a.m. of August 22, 2022, the region has only reached 27.6 percent or 565,710 doses for the first booster shot, while only 3.8 percent or 77,626 received their second booster.
A total of 7,165,350 doses were administered in the region. This includes 93.2 percent or 3,536,770 individuals for the first dose, and 85.9 percent or 3,262,847 for the second dose.
Out of the 3,796,830 target population, 85.9 percent or 3,262,847 individuals are fully vaccinated.
Based on the breakdown per province and city, Davao City has exceeded its coverage with 100.2 percent, wherein the target population is at 1,327,323 individuals, but a total of 1,330,634 were fully vaccinated.
Davao del Sur has logged the lowest vaccination coverage in the region with 70 percent, wherein 359,751 out of the 514,171 individuals were fully vaccinated.
DOH-Davao continues to remind Dabawenyos to get vaccinated against Covid-19, and receive their booster shot.
In July, the DOH said that the Marcos administration has set a target of 23 million booster doses for vaccination during its first 100 days.
The DOH earlier launched ‘Pinaslakas”, which aims to strengthen the government’s campaign for booster shots.
DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire iterated the government’s call for the public to get Covid-19 vaccination, as well as booster shots to increase the wall of immunity and protection against the virus. RGL
