DABAWENYOS will be given the opportunity to personally witness the oathtaking of outgoing Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as she plans to hold her inauguration as vice president in her hometown, where she had served for three non-consecutive terms.

Duterte-Carpio bared in a radio interview on Monday, May 16 that the target date for her oathtaking is on June 19 once she would be declared the winner by the joint Senate and House of Represenatives.

“Nag-set ta og date pero wala pa ta nagplano tungod wala pa ta kahibalo kung kanus-a ang proclamation, basin mulampas siya og June 19, pero nag-set na ta og date just in case nga ang (We already set the date but we haven’t made any plans since we do not yet know the date of the proclamation, which is likely to be after May 19, but we have already set the date just in case the) proclamation will happen before June 19,” the mayor said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.

According to the mayor, the oathtaking can be held once the winners will be proclaimed.

The date for her inauguration, she said, was slated at an earlier schedule so she could personally attend the oath taking of her running mate, presumptive President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.

The mayor said she intends to have her inauguration in the city for her local supporters to witness her oath taking.

“I think angay ra pud gyud diri (it is right to hold the inauguration here) because it will be the pride of Davao Region and Davao City na makakita sa isa ka oath taking sa isa ka (to witness the oathtaking of a) vice president,” she said.

The mayor admitted that her camp is having a hard time in the transitional phase as she has not yet been proclaimed.

“Maikog kog lihok (I am having a hard time in working) on the transition on the national level tungod kay wala man guy proclamation. Basig muingon ra unya sila na kapamati ba aning bayhana na ni nga gadali-dali man (because there is still no proclamation. The public might criticize me and think that I might be in a hurry for the position),” Duterte-Carpio said.

Meanwhile, the mayor said a joint oathtaking and thanksgiving ceremony will also be held in the city. The oathtaking will be for the winning candidates of the joint Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod-Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HTL-HNP) party next week.

As of writing, there is still no venue for both her inauguration and oath taking for the HTL-HNP winning candidates. (RGL)
