Duterte, clad in navy blue polo shirt and pants, and black leather shoes, arrived at the premises of Dranhs around 4:30 p.m.
He was accompanied by his common-law wife, Honeylet Avaceña, and Senator Bong Go with the usual Presidential Security Group party in tail.
The President got in at his precinct 1245A before 5 p.m. and Duterte brought with him his “kodigo” or list of preferred candidates for national and local posts to guide him while shading his ballot.
Approximately less than an hour later, he cast his ballot in the vote counting machine and finished voting.
Duterte gave a short message outside his precinct to thank Dabawenyos and supporters who were present at Dranhs to witness him cast his final electoral vote as president.
“Ako motalikoray na sa akong pagka-Presidente. Gusto lang ko makadungog og — ang akong kinasing-kasing nga pagpasalamat kaninyong taga-Davao. Kamo ang gasugod sa akong journey sa akong paglakbay ngadto sa Malacañan (I am about to step down from the Presidency. I just want you to hear my heartfelt gratitude for the people of Davao. You are the ones who started my journey until I reached Malacañan),” he said.
“Unya ako nia ra sa Davao so basig civilian na ko, og unsa may akong mahimo nimo, sama sa akong giingon niadto pa pagsugod nako pagka-mayor, ako si Rodrigo Duterte, magpabilin inyong sulugoon (I will stay here in Davao. Even as a civilian, I will still help you. Just like what I promised when I first became mayor, I am Rodrigo Duterte, and I will remain your servant),” the president added.
Before leaving Dranhs, Duterte signed “Rduterte” on the armchair that was earlier signed by his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who is running for the vice president position.
Duterte is set to step down from the presidency on June 30, 2022, as his successor, the 17th president of the Philippines, assumes office.
