Outgoing Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said on Monday, May 23, 2022, said that the expansion of the CCC is part of the city’s Covid-19 response plan.
As of this writing, the city currently has one CCC located in Doña Vicenta Village in Bajada. The mayor, however, revealed that the city will be moving to Sta. Ana Health Center, a designated Covid-19 swabbing center.
“Nag-move na pud ta (We moved) from our original location tungod kay private property man to siya. Gipahulam ra to sa atoa. (since it is a private property. We only borrowed the area.) So we moved to a government property,” Duterte-Carpio said.
Covid-19 Task Force spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser told SunStar Davao in a phone interview that the CCC was transferred to its new location two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, a second CCC, located in Calinan, is already 95 percent complete, while a third CCC to be located in Ilang, Tibungco is currently underway.
The City Government opened its first CCC, a 24/7 facility to cater to the Covid 19-related needs of the Dabawenyos. The main features of the CCC are free contact tracing, consultation and medicine, swab test, quarantine or isolation, transportation, and food for suspected, probable, or confirmed Covid-19 cases.
The CCC also utilizes telemedicine for people to consult and communicate with doctors on Covid-related matters at the safety of their homes.
Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio said there are still no signs of an impending surge in the city. This despite the recent detection of the Omicron subvariant BA.2 in some parts of the Philippines.
“So far, we don’t see an impending surge. Very low lang gihapon ang atong mga cases (our cases are very low). In the event na duna na ta’y (that we have a) surge, nangamdam pud ta sama sa pangandam nato kaniadto mao lang gihapon (we are prepared the same way we have before),” Duterte-Carpio said.
As of the latest, Davao City has 25 active Covid-19 cases, eight of which are admitted at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), nine are at private hospitals, and the rest are at home isolation and TTMFs.
“Death nato is zero ta (We have no deaths recently),” Duterte-Carpio said.
The Covid-19 response team of the city is prepared to face the surge, said the mayor, by implementing established precautions such as vaccination, minimum public health standards, and the Prevention, Detection, Isolation Treatment, and Reintegration (PDITR) strategy.
