AN OFFICIAL of the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force said while Davao City is still recording Covid-19 positive cases daily, it is still within the accepted positivity rate of five percent.

“Wala gyod ta consistent na zero-zero (cases). Naa tay days na zero cases per day pero dili siya consistent. Naa gihapon ta number of cases on a daily basis (We are not recording zero cases. We have days wherein we have zero cases but it’s not daily. We still have a number of cases on a daily basis),” spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said during a radio interview on Wednesday, April 20.

Schlosser said Davao City recorded one Covid-19 death from April 10 to 16, 2022, wherein the victim is unvaccinated against the disease.

Based on the data of the Department of Health (DOH)-Davao as of April 13, 2022, Davao City has at least 57 Covid-19 cases, which is currently the highest tally in Davao Region.

Region-wide, there are 132 Covid-19 cases, including 35 cases from Davao de Oro, 19 from Davao del Norte, 13 from Davao del Sur, and eight from Davao Oriental. Of this, more than half are unvaccinated.

Schlosser stressed that coronavirus is still present in Davao City, thus she urged the public to get vaccinated and still practice the necessary Covid-19 precautions such as wearing face masks and proper hand hygiene.

“Naa gihapon ta kalaban because every day naa gihapon ta cases. That’s the reason why strong gihapon atong call sa pag wear og face mask, sa pag avoid og mga high-risk behaviors (We are still fighting Covid-19 because we stll have cases every day. That’s the reason we are still urging people to wear your face mask and avoid participating in high-risk activities),” Schlosser said.
