VOTING centers will have a designated Isolation Polling Precinct on election day for voters who will manifest Covid-19 symptoms, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Davao on March 7, 2022.

Lawyer Gay Enumerables, assistant regional director and spokesperson of Comelec-Davao, said during a press conference that medical personnel will be present at voting centers on May 9, 2022 to monitor the temperatures of voters.

Individuals with a temperature exceeding 37.5 degrees will be designated to an isolation Polling Place on-site and will still be able to vote.

“Ngayon lang ito because of the pandemic, so yun yung bagong protocol namin. Before going inside the voting center or school, may medical personnel who will check the temperature for every voter (This is just for the elections this year because of the protocols we have to follow amid a pandemic. Medical personnel will be stationed outside the voting centers to check the temperature of every voter),” Enumerables said.

The spokesperson also said Comelec-Davao will strictly implement the minimum public health standards on voting day to ensure the health safety of every voter.

She said each voting precinct will only allow a minimum of five voters at a time that will wear face masks and practice social distancing, but more can be accommodated depending on the size of the classroom.

In addition, three teachers will be present for each voting precinct to facilitate the activity.

According to Enumerables, there are 4,834 clustered voting precincts in 1,443 voting centers in Davao Region that will need a total of 14,502 teachers.

Enumerables said the training for the teachers to be delegated on election day has started on March 1, 2022 and it will last until the end of March.
