Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said in a radio interview on Monday, January 31, that it is possible for all barangays to be under critical risk or high risk.

“Hypothetically possible na siya kung tanan barangays naay infection and duna silay cases didto of Covid-19 because as we have all seen, paspas makatakdo ang omicron variant (Hypothetically, it’s possible for all barangays to be critical or high risk if all of them have infection or Covid-19 cases because, as we have all seen, the Omicron variant is very contagious),” she said.

In previous interviews, the mayor assured that the City Government will only impose granular lockdowns per household or establishment, rather than total lockdowns of barangays or areas under critical risk or higher.

Davao City Covid-19 Task Force spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser also said the implementation of the granular lockdowns will help balance the health and economy sector of the city.

“As of the moment, do not expect a lockdown, total lockdown because we are trying to make sure that both areas thrive, ang economy and atong health,” said Schlosser during an interview on January 26.

The Davao local government emphasized that travel to areas classified as high and critical risk is strongly discouraged, unless for work, business, or emergency situations.
