Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesperson of Davao City Covid-19 Task Force, clarified during a radio interview on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, that tricycles will not be catered at drive-thru vaccination hubs to avoid tricycles on national highways.
“Ang atong concern ana ang safety and security sa mismong tao na musakay sa tricycle because dili allowed ang tricycle sa national highway (Our concern is the safety and security of the passengers on the tricycle because these types of vehicles are not allowed on national highway),” she said.
Schlosser added that this was under the consultation of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), City Transport and Traffic Management (CTTMO), and the Davao police. However, single motorcycles and taxis are allowed.
“Dakpon po and it’s very dangerous also kung mubyahe mo sa national highway (It is very dangerous for them to travel along the highway and they could be caught too),” she said.
The drive-thu vaccination hub is currently open near the Davao Crocodile Park and People’s Park Davao starting January 11.
According to Schlosser, vaccination at the Crocodile Park caters to all categories aged 18 years old and above, while People’s Park drive-thru will only administer to senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
“Kay the last time na gi open nato sya sa tanan na 18 years old and pataas (at People’s Park), nagka traffic didto sa downtown. Since nakita nato to na problema, gisolusyonan dayon nato, gi open nato ang crocodile park na vaccination hub (The last time we opened vaccination for persons 18 years old and above at the People’s Park, it caused traffic. We opened the hub near crocodile park to address this problem),” she said.
With regards to the target number of vaccinees, Schlosser said they are aiming to cater as much as they can before the daily cut-off at 3 p.m.
“We will serve as much as we can. Just like in People’s Park, we served as much as 3,000 vaccinees in a day,” she said.
