In a Facebook post, the Davao City Government revealed the top 30 barangays that had achieved the highest percentage of fully vaccinated individuals, as of December 3. The data came from the Davao City Vaccination Cluster.
Topping the list is Barangay 3-A of the Poblacion District in the First District with 235 percent, followed by Agdao District, Second District with 208 percent, then Ilang in Bunawan District, still in the Second District with 182 percent.
Also on the list are 13-B (150 percent), 11-B (133 percent), Wilfredo Aquino (130 percent), 17-B (116 percent), Mulig (116 percent), 12-B (112 percent), 33-D (106 percent), Matina Crossing (104 percent), 18-B (101 percent), 34-D (100 percent), 7-A (99 percent), and Mintal (97 percent).
Trailing behind are 35-D (96 percent); 9-A (93 percent); 38-D and 14-B (92 percent); 16-B (91 percent); 32-D (90 percent); 20-B (89 percent); Acacia, and Talomo River (88 percent); Indangan (87 percent), 27-C, Calinan, and Alfonso Angliongto St. (86 percent); and Toril and Tacunan (83 percent).
In terms of ranking per district, the first district has the highest percentage of fully vaccinated individuals with 64 percent or a total of 276,472 fully vaccinated, followed by Second District with 59 percent or 254,100 fully vaccinated, and Third District with 53 percent or 172,863 fully vaccinated.
Paquibato District, a far-flung district in the city, got the lowest recorded fully vaccinated individuals, with 8,686 or 27 percent.
The data, however, did not present the barangay with the lowest fully vaccinated turnout.
Covid-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said in a radio interview on Wednesday, December 15, the data was publicized to determine the areas wherein the vaccination team will focus on information drive and vaccination services.
“Gihimay-himay nila ang data kung kinsa ang mga barangay nga daghan ang nabakunahan, ug kinsa tong kulang pa aron matagaan nato og focus (The data that we gathered will allow us to determine the areas we will focus on),” Schlosser said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.
Schlosser said the city had been intensifying its vaccination drive-through, opening more vaccination hubs, even expanding it within smaller communities.
The official said vaccination hesitancy is still the primary factor why a certain area has not yet achieved its respective target. She, however, said this is not significant.
Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said in a radio interview on Monday, December 13, that the city has already recorded 1,191,694 persons jabbed for the first dose, which is 91.68 percent of the targeted herd immunity, and 1,046,084 for second dose, or 80.47 percent of the targeted herd immunity.
Duterte-Carpio said in a previous interview that the city is targeting to vaccinate a total of 1,299,894 Dabawenyos.
The mayor said the Vaccination Cluster has not made any projections, but she personally believed that the remaining 108,000 can be vaccinated for the first dose before the year ends.
For the second dose, she said the city might achieve herd immunity in or before January 2022.
Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio said the local government does not assume those who are not yet vaccinated as “anti-vaxxers” or those who do not believe or doubt the vaccine’s efficacy.
“Most likely, dili man pud ni sila tanan dili gusto magpabakuna. Ang uban siguro ani, wala silay time muadto, busy sila (not all of these people don’t want to get vaccinated. Some of them, probably, they don’t have the time),” she said.
The mayor added these are the sectors that the city would put focus on in the city’s mobile vaccination.
