During her briefer at the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC) on Friday, Jan. 28, Loreche said there were no fatalities although three individuals were recently admitted to hospitals.
“Most of these are actually fully vaccinated, except for one or two who are unvaccinated,” she said.
Loreche said the samples were taken from Dec. 25, 2021 to Jan. 5 this year.
Loreche said the VVOC will no longer identify the local government units (LGUs) where the confirmed cases are residing to protect the individuals from possible discrimination from other people, particularly their neighbors.
It can be recalled that Loreche announced the first 22 confirmed Omicron cases in Central Visayas last Jan. 18.
Of the 22 cases, five are local transmissions, 10 are overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), six are returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs), and one is a foreign national.
Loreche reiterated that vaccination against Covid-19 really works, which is why people are urged to get themselves vaccinated, she said.
Loreche said the VVOC is thinking of putting up vaccination sites in pharmacies as well as bus terminals in the region in addition to malls and hospitals.
