FORMER Mandaue City Councilor Lawyer Nilo “Olin” Seno filed his certificate of candidacy before the Commission on Election (Comelec) Tuesday afternoon, October 5, 2021 in the 2022 elections.

He is running for mayor in Mandaue City.

Former Mandaue City Councilor Elmer Cabahug will be his runningmate.

Aside from them, Seno’s 10 slate of councilors also filed their COCs, namely Editha Flores-Cabahug, JP Ceniza, Tony Dabon, Argie Remegio, Leo Saberon, Fritz Villamor, Jojo Bodo, Isko Ouano, Paulo Seno, and Glenn Antigua.

In his press conference, Seno said he and Cabahug are friends since they were in elementary school until now and they also share the same vision for a new Mandaue City.

“We want to offer the city a new Mandaue City, mao nang atong grupo gitawag nga ‘Bag-ong Mandaue’,” said Seno.

In the group’s platform, Seno said they are in line with all their visions to the “new normal” setup of the community particularly in healthcare, education, and social welfare.

Seno said they will offer the residents of Mandaue good healthcare since they have noticed that the current administration has allocated a small amount of its budget for healthcare.

Seno also said that the barangay health centers are small and have limited medical supplies, adding that only during the time of former Mayor Luigi Quisumbing that the healthcare centers were slowly improvised.

Once he will be chosen for the position, he envisioned that the barangay health centers will be improved at the same to function as 24-hour pharmacy of the barangays.

Improvising the health centers also includes equipping the barangays with Department of Health (DOH) approved and accredited ambulances and equipment attended by trained personnel of Emergency Medical Services, said Seno.

In the education aspect, Seno said they wanted to offer to the residents in Mandaue City a more affordable online education.

With this, Seno said this will provide the residents easy access to education particularly in this time of pandemic when face-to-face classes are still prohibited.

Also, included in their platform, is giving more attention to the concerns of the senior citizens and providing ease of doing business.

In his part, Cabahug said he wanted to offer more sustainable projects for the welfare of the informal settlers not just extracting them from the area.

He said this was part of their platform to provide housing or lots for the informal settler since he believe that they are also part of the community-building in the city.

Seno also clarified that they are yet to confirm the other two candidates that will run as city councilors and one candidate for congress representative. (KFD)
