City Legal Officer Carlos Romeo Ting Jr. said Monday, October 10, that Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez issued the show cause order against the two city employees whose names are being withheld.
Ting said the City Legal Office (CLO) conducted an investigation on the two employees.
They used the fuel trip tickets that were charged to unserviceable heavy equipment vehicles eight times amounting to P50,000, the lawyer said.
On Saturday, as he reported his accomplishments for the first 100 days of his administration, Benitez said, they have lowered the City Government’s fuel consumption to 9,000 liters from 17,300 liters.
SunStar Bacolod tried to reach Dr. Chris Sorongon, spokesperson of former Mayor Evelio Leonardia, over the weekend regarding this, but he is yet to reply.
“This administration will no longer allow cash advances by the millions to employees with low salary grades,” Benitez assured.
He added that the CLO will properly charge the two employees, but they will be given an opportunity to explain their sides.
